New York Enacts Drug Take-Back Law: New Requirements for Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Certain Pharmacies

New York just took its reliance on the voluntary disposal of unused drugs a step further, enacting legislation that requires: (i) pharmaceutical manufacturers to establish formal drug take-back programs, and (ii) chain pharmacies and mail-order pharmacies to provide for the safe collection of drugs (both prescription and non-prescription) by providing consumers with on-site collection, prepaid mail-back envelopes or other Federal Drug Enforcement Agency approved methods.
