Medicare data standing alone doesn’t prove misconduct, said David Traskey, a former senior counsel with the HHS Office of Inspector General (OIG). “Guardiola in particular used data to draw conclusions about potential fraud, waste and abuse at Oroville,” said Traskey, with Garfunkel Wild P.C. “Just because you’re a high-ranking outlier doesn’t mean you’ve done something wrong.”
