FQHC Look-Alike Application Blackout Period: Changes are Coming

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has announced that it will not be accepting Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) Look-Alike Initial Designation (LAL-ID) applications for approximately one month starting in late June.  The LAL-ID application module will be closed from 11:59 p.m. ET on Sunday, June 23, 2004 through Friday, July 26, 2024.

What does this mean for applicants?

  • HRSA will be updating the LAL-ID application instructions and HRSA Electronic Handbooks, the system used for the application.  There is no guidance yet regarding what these changes will entail.

  • While applicants typically have 90 days to complete the LAL-ID application, applicants who begin an application after March 26, 2024 will not have the full 90 days to complete their applications.  Instead, applications that are started but not submitted by 11:59 p.m. ET on June 23, 2024 will be closed and the information entered will not be retained in the system.
