Garfunkel Wild’s Marianne Monroy and Lauren Levine will present, “Privacy and Other Legal Considerations with Social Media Use by Health Care Providers” at the 2025 Society for Health Care Risk Management of New Jersey (SHCRM-NJ) Annual Conference, on May 2, 2025.
The program is intended to provide an overview of legal and ethical considerations with the use of social media in the health care industry. Participants will learn about employee social media use that may affect or disrupt the work environment, liability, reputation, and other legal concerns. Examples will be analyzed to assist in identifying common legal issues and pitfalls. Marianne and Lauren will review best practices related to identifying when it may be appropriate to intervene and implementing disciplinary actions.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will understand legal protections for health care providers, employees, and employers regarding social media activities and posts.
- Participants will be able to identify social media posts that may harmful to or impact the worksite, e.g., hate speech or controversial opinions.
- Participants will be able to explain best practices for implementing discipline and developing social media policies.
