Celia Morel joined Garfunkel Wild, P.C. as an Associate in 2022. She is a member of the firm’s Investigations, Audits and Compliance practice group. She represents various healthcare providers on regulatory and transactional matters, with specific experience in long term care.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Morel was an Assistant District Attorney for Westchester County, New York. In this role, she gained invaluable experience communicating with victims, working with law enforcement, advocating in court, handling motion practice and trying cases.

While obtaining her law degree, Ms. Morel worked for a post-acute care organization, servicing clients in the healthcare industry, including skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, rehabilitation therapy companies, and a hospice and palliative care provider. In this role, Ms. Morel assisted clients with compliance matters involving Medicare, Medicaid, and state agencies ranging from daily operational compliance to state survey compliance and licensure matters. Ms. Morel also assisted clients with contract management services. She drafted and reviewed various vendor agreements and agreements for medical directors, attending physicians, nurse practitioners, and hospice and palliative care services. Additionally, Ms. Morel prepared and reviewed corporate closing documents on various mergers and acquisitions across multiple portfolios.

During law school, Ms. Morel was selected to argue at the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna, Austria as a member of the Pace Law School Moot Court Team for two consecutive years.

Ms. Morel received her J.D., from Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University. She earned her B.S., cum laude, from Pace University.
