Cassandra Rivais DiNova joined Garfunkel Wild, P.C. as an Associate in 2021. She is a member of the firm’s Health Care and Corporate practice groups. She represents various healthcare providers on regulatory and transactional matters.

Her transactional representations have included mergers and acquisitions. She has assisted in forming new entities and business structures, including LLCs, IPAs, and MSOs, and in obtaining related federal and state tax exemptions. She counsels clients on patient confidentiality and disclosure of protected health information, particularly HIPAA and the federal Part 2 regulations. She also assists healthcare clients with vendor agreements and clinical policies.

Active in the New York State Bar Association, Ms. DiNova is an editor of the NYSBA Health Law Journal. Previously, she served as Chair of NYSBA’s Health Law Section’s Young Lawyers’ Committee and was member of the Executive Committee. She is also the author of the “In the Journals” column of the NYSBA Health Law Journal.

She has provided various forms of educational services, ranging from in-house staff trainings, guest lectures at Albany Law School, and taught undergraduate nursing students courses. She is an Adjunct Professor at Albany Law School, teaching mental health law. She also is a member of the Albany Law School Government Law Center’s Aging and Disability Law Committee.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. DiNova worked at private law firms, gaining experience in a wide range of healthcare matters. She also completed a two-year clinical ethics fellowship at Alden March Bioethics Institute of Albany Medical Center where she performed ethics consultations to resolve various types of disputes in the clinical setting and provided ethics education for medical students.
